About Us
Originally, Maplelawn Baptist Church was founded in 1929 by Henry and Jenny Koets.
Their early efforts focused on a Sunday afternoon class for children, which grew into a small church service after others from the neighborhood joined them. The Koets, retired at the time, mortgaged their home and built a small church building.
In 1946, the small congregation, Godwin Heights Tabernacle, was established.
A new building campaign was started in 1951 and in 1957, new building, new location, and new name, Maplelawn Baptist Church came into being.
